Kollmorgen Expands HazLoc Portfolio with AKME Servo Motors
Built on the established AKM servo motor platform, the AKME series combines compact design, high power density and broad configurability. The motors are available in IEC frame sizes 2–7 and support a wide range of drive voltages, including 48, 75 Vdc, and 120, 240 or 400 Vac, with speeds of up to 5,000 rpm.
To meet diverse application needs, the AKME series offers multiple feedback options, including resolver, SFD-M, ComCoder, EnDat, Hiperface and BiSS B. The motors are optimised for use with AKD, AKD2G and Kollmorgen Essentials (KED) servo drives, delivering high torque density, fast response and precise motion control.
Commenting on the launch, Chris Cooper, Global Director – Product Management, Kollmorgen, said the new range allows engineers to specify a more cost-effective hazardous location motor for Zone 2 and Zone 22 applications, rather than overspecified solutions designed for more extreme zones.
The AKME series strengthens Kollmorgen’s certified hazardous environment offering and is suited to applications in pharmaceuticals, food processing, grain handling, industrial paint booths and other industrial settings where explosive atmospheres may be present.
