Mahagenco REL Invites Bids For DPR Consultancy For 2,200 MW Projects
The Varandh Ghat Pumped Storage Project and the Koyna Stage?6 Pumped Storage Project total 2,200 megawatt (MW). Varandh Ghat is planned at 1,200 MW through four units of 300 MW each across Pune and Raigad districts, while Koyna Stage?6 is planned at 1,000 MW through four units of 250 MW each in Satara. The DPRs will address reservoir, headrace and powerhouse design requirements.
Selected consultants must prepare comprehensive DPRs including field investigations, topographical and geotechnical surveys, and environmental and social assessments leading to Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Management Plan reports. They will be required to obtain statutory clearances and prepare submissions aligned with Central Electricity Authority (CEA) and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) guidelines. Experience in hydroelectric or pumped storage DPR preparation and securing CEA concurrence is sought.
The tender document can be downloaded from the Bharat Electronic Tender portal on payment of a non?refundable fee of Rs 59,000 inclusive of 18 per cent GST, with Earnest Money Deposit and Performance Bank Guarantee details available within the purchased document. Document download began on 24 July 2026, queries close on 10 August and a pre?bid meeting is scheduled for 11 August. Online submission of techno?commercial and price bids together with the EMD must be completed by 21 August, with physical techno?commercial submission and bid opening dates set in late August.
Any corrigenda or amendments will be published only on the official tender portal and communication on price bid openings will be shared with technically qualified bidders by email. The projects are expected to enhance grid reliability by storing surplus renewable generation and supplying power during peak demand.
