Mahindra & Mahindra Auto Sales Rise 15 Per Cent in September
Domestic sales of sport utility vehicles (SUVs) stood at 64,092 units during the month. This represented growth of 14 per cent compared with September last year, maintaining the company’s recent momentum in the domestic passenger vehicle market.
Domestic commercial vehicle sales also increased 14 per cent year-on-year to 30,420 units in September. The figure included the company’s sales across its commercial vehicle portfolio in the domestic market and contributed to the overall rise in vehicle volumes.
The company also said it had crossed a milestone of 100,000 billings for its Electric Origin SUVs since their launch. The milestone was highlighted by Velusamy R, president of the Automotive Business at Mahindra & Mahindra, as evidence of continuing momentum in the electric SUV segment.
The September performance combines domestic sales with exports for the overall vehicle figure, while the SUV and commercial vehicle numbers relate to the domestic market. Mahindra & Mahindra’s reported results therefore showed growth across both major categories disclosed for the month, with SUVs accounting for the larger share of domestic volumes.
The company’s statement did not provide a further breakdown of exports or individual vehicle models. It reported the sales figures as part of its monthly operating update, with the year-on-year comparisons based on the corresponding month of the previous year.
