Markaz Knowledge City Wins Green Smart City Award 2025

Calicut’s Markaz Knowledge City has clinched the Green and Sustainable Smart City Award 2025, outshining Ujjain and Jhansi Smart Cities. Recognised for its pioneering decentralised urban model, the city integrates 40 surrounding villages, aligning with the Government’s PURA initiative. The project champions renewable energy, water conservation, and 40 per cent green cover, significantly curbing carbon emissions. Its economic model links rural producers to urban markets and aims to deliver Universal Basic Income to 20,000 households. Celebrated at a high-profile event attended by 50,000 delegates, Markaz sets a benchmark in inclusive, rural-integrated smart urbanisation for India's future cities.
