MCD Orders Kargi Garbage Station Repairs by September 30
Pandey said the station had not been functioning properly for a long time, while the process of making capsules from garbage had also remained closed. Because the machinery was not operational, the MCD had been transporting waste collected at Kargi to other locations, increasing vehicle trips and the use of time and resources.
The station is also receiving waste beyond its capacity, resulting in garbage spilling onto roads around the facility. Chief municipal health officer Anand Shukla said the MCD had made part payment to Rash Infra Service (RISL) and instructed the company to remove the accumulated waste. However, the company had not cleared the site, prompting the MCD to send a letter seeking its blacklisting.
The MCD had earlier permitted RISL to continue garbage transfer operations until September 30, while directing it to clear the accumulated waste and repair the machinery. The DSCL PIU Cell has now been asked to assess the technical condition of the equipment and complete the necessary repairs before formally transferring the station to the civic body.
Pandey also instructed officials to review the repair work regularly and warned of strict action if the deadline was missed or negligence was found. He said the MCD would take over garbage management at its own level if the Smart City authorities and the company failed to comply with the directions.
