Modi To Unveil Rs 350 Billion Gujarat Infrastructure Push
The programme will mark the completion of the dedicated freight corridor and the links needed to make the network operational along its full route.
The Prime Minister's Office said he will then travel to Mumbai to open the Global Fintech Fest 2026. The three WDFC sections — Sanand (North)-Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale and New Saphale-Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority — were developed at a cost of more than Rs 207 bn and the final connection to JNPA is expected to speed up export?import movement, lower logistics costs and ease congestion on Mumbai's railway network.
Modi will flag off freight services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT and a new passenger train between Vadodara and Tanda Road, and will dedicate the Jobat-Tanda Road rail line to link Alirajpur to the national rail network.
The Prime Minister will also lay foundation stones for three railway projects spanning 329 km and costing more than Rs 97 bn, including third and fourth lines between Vadodara and Ratlam, gauge conversion at Miyagam Karjan-Choranda-Malsar and doubling of the Vishwamitri-Dabhoi line; the works are intended to increase passenger and freight capacity.
Three National Highway projects costing about Rs 17.8 bn will be launched, covering six?laning of the Kamrej-Chalthan stretch of NH?48, bridges over the Tapi and Narmada and grade?separated structures on NH?53, and the Prime Minister will open six?lane flyovers at Kandari Chokdi and Luvara Patia. Gujarat government schemes worth about Rs 26 bn will be inaugurated, including Phase II of the Vadodara Urban Development Authority Ring Road and a 110 megawatt (MW) floating solar project at Kadana Dam.
In Mumbai, the Global Fintech Fest runs from September eight to 11 and will focus on agentic AI, tokenisation, quantum technologies and digital finance.
