Naidu to Seek Centre’s Support for Andhra Pradesh Projects

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will visit Delhi for two days from Wednesday afternoon to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union Ministers. The discussions will focus on infrastructure projects, financial assistance and measures to address drought-like conditions in the state.

During his meeting with Modi, Naidu is expected to seek approval for the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project and the Beach Corridor projects. He will also request steps to initiate a river-linking project in Andhra Pradesh, according to an official release issued by the state government.

The chief minister is expected to seek special financial assistance from Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to provide relief to areas affected by drought-like conditions linked to El Nino. He will also request Central support from Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the conduct of the Godavari Pushkarams next year.

Naidu’s discussions with Sitharaman will also cover the proposed Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub project. He is scheduled to meet Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil to discuss the utilisation of large volumes of floodwater flowing from the Godavari River into the sea, along with the proposed river-linking initiatives.

The chief minister will also meet Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and other Union Ministers during the visit. On Thursday afternoon, he will participate with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in the CII Partnership Conference Curtain Raiser, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in Delhi. Naidu is scheduled to return to Amaravati on Thursday night.
