The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation, previous year in October, approved the riverfront Phase-2 project worth Rs 850 crore. Recently, the AMC has finalised the design for the same.

Once implemented, it would directly link the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium worth Rs 800 crore to Sardar Patel Sports Enclave in Motera to Sabarmati Riverfront.

Although AUDA is searching for an agency to manage the feasibility of holding the Olympic Games in Ahmedabad, AMC-run SRFDCL is constructing a 5.8 km road that runs parallel to the river. In this situation, the road from the rear portion of Motera stadium will connect directly to the riverfront.

In the first phase, AMC developed an 11.5 km stretch on the east and west banks of the river. Now, in the second phase, the riverfront will be elongated up to Indira Bridge.

The idea is to construct a 5.8 km stretch in the east and a 5.2 km stretch in the west, which will increase the length of the Sabarmati Riverfront to 34 km on each side.

The second phase will witness a stretch connecting Dashama temple to Indira Bridge. The design for the development of the range has received final approval.

The Phase-2 design will decrease the distance from the riverfront to the world's largest stadium. Moreover, during cricket matches, it will help traffic bottlenecks often seen on the Sabarmati Powerhouse route.
