NeGD Conducts Five-Day Advanced Anti-Drone Training for CISF

National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), conducted a five-day Advanced Anti-Drone Training Programme for officers of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at DIAT, Pune. It was the first intensive technology-driven programme specifically designed for personnel engaged in national security and protection of critical infrastructure. The programme aimed to enhance counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems capabilities through a mix of practical and theoretical instruction.

The inauguration was led by Dr B H V S Narayana Murthy, Vice Chancellor, DIAT, who emphasised the growing importance of counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems capabilities in safeguarding strategic assets. Domain experts from DIAT and DRDO delivered hands-on sessions on detection, tracking, assessment and neutralisation of hostile drones. The syllabus included modules on directional and omnidirectional jamming techniques, camera-based systems and three dimensional drone trajectory analysis.

As part of NeGD's Capacity Building project, the programme sought to equip CISF officers with operational proficiency in counter-drone systems, threat response frameworks and real-time scenario handling. Practical unmanned aerial system neutralisation exercises provided real-world operational exposure while simulation environments replicated probable threat situations. DIAT supplied specialised infrastructure and expert faculty while DRDO provided technical support to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

The initiative represented a milestone in the space of capacity building and reflected NeGD's commitment to strengthening the technological preparedness of frontline security forces. NeGD will continue to collaborate with national security agencies and premier technical institutions to develop advanced capabilities in emerging technologies critical to India's security ecosystem. Organisers expect that the enhanced training will improve readiness and interoperability among stakeholders responsible for protecting strategic assets.
