NIBE Vayu Astra-1 Completes 100 km Strike Trials

NIBE Limited announced that the Vayu Astra-1 loitering munition (Vayu Astra-1 LM) successfully completed a series of technical trials at the Pokhran range in Rajasthan and at Joshimath in Uttarakhand. The performance underscored precision and reliability in long range engagements.

The system also executed an anti-armour night strike using an infrared camera and achieved a hit within a two metre circular error probable in a single pass. Teams demonstrated transfer of control from the ground control station to a forward control station located 70 km away, validating remote mission management. Night time targeting and sensor fusion were integrated into the engagement sequence to support armoured target defeat.

At Joshimath the Vayu Astra-1 LM achieved endurance flying time exceeding 90 minutes and conducted high altitude loitering operations at over 14,000 feet. The platform returned to base and was safely recovered after mission completion for subsequent flights, demonstrating reuse capability. The trials indicated operational readiness for sustained loiter and precision engagement in mountainous terrain.
