PAIMANA Tracks 1,981 Central Sector Infrastructure Projects
The flash report shows 801 projects, around 40 per cent, have achieved over 80 per cent physical progress, while 277 projects, about 14 per cent, have crossed 80 per cent financial completion. The portal records 814 mega projects with project cost thresholds of Rs 10 billion (bn) and above and an original cost of Rs 31.63 trillion (tn), and 1,167 major projects amounting to Rs 5.49 trillion (tn). Physical and financial progress broadly move in tandem with clusters at initial and advanced stages.
Ministry-level data place the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways at the forefront with 1,137 projects and a revised cost of Rs 10.81 trillion (tn), followed by the Ministry of Railways with 260 projects and Rs 8.69 trillion (tn). The Ministry of Coal implements 128 projects valued at Rs 2.49 trillion (tn) while the ministries of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Power manage large portfolios with revised costs of Rs 5.19 trillion (tn) and Rs 5.53 trillion (tn) respectively. Other ministries and departments contribute further project portfolios across sectors.
In April, nine projects were commissioned, including a flyover, a transmission system for renewable evacuation and a sewerage treatment project valued at Rs 7.584 billion (bn), Rs 6.8874 billion (bn) and Rs 3.6231 billion (bn). The portal added 55 projects during the month, including Bangalore Metro Phase three at Rs 156.11 billion (bn), Kalai two hydro at Rs 141.0583 billion (bn) and the Zaheerabad node at Rs 23.6 billion (bn).
