PennWhite India Private Limited (PWI), a company incorporated in India for speciality chemicals and a wholly owned subsidiary of PennWhite Limited, UK, inaugurated a manufacturing facility at Oragadam, Chennai on 29 April 2026. The facility has been established to produce foam control chemistry to serve customer requirements in India and the wider Asian markets. The plant forms part of a strategy to provide locally manufactured products that meet established international specifications.

PennWhite Limited was acquired in November 2022 by Manali Petrochemicals Limited (MPL), which is described as India’s only integrated manufacturer of polyols and is part of AM International, Singapore. An Indian subsidiary, PWI, was incorporated in February 2024 to enhance and accelerate business development in the Indian and broader Asian markets. Following a long-term lease for land and premises at Oragadam executed in early 2025, the company built and commissioned the facility within 18 months.

The plant has been set up to operate in full conformity with the quality and manufacturing standards followed at PennWhite's existing facility in the United Kingdom. The facility has been awarded ISO 9001 certification and the process of obtaining additional quality and food safety accreditations is currently underway. Operations will support supply chains across diverse applications including food processing, wastewater treatment, printing, oil and coatings.

The inauguration took place in the presence of senior executives and dignitaries including the chairperson of PennWhite Limited, the chief executive officer of PennWhite Limited and a director of PWI, the managing director and chief executive officer of MPL and the head of business at PWI, alongside the deputy high commissioner designate of the British High Commission in Chennai. Company representatives characterised the investment as a strategic presence in Asia and a step in a wider India strategy, noting earlier corporate moves such as incorporation of PWI in 2024 and prior acquisitions in the Indian market. PennWhite was described as a supplier of speciality chemicals to more than 40 countries and PWI was noted as a 100 per cent-owned subsidiary with a 40-year association through its parent.
