Perkins Appoints Richard Hemmings as Global SMSP Head

Perkins has recently appointed Richard Hemmings as Vice President & General Manager for Global Sales, Marketing, Service & Parts (SMSP), effective 1 January 2026. He succeeds Jaz Gill, who will retire at the end of March 2026.

In his new role, Hemmings will lead Perkins’ global commercial operations, overseeing sales and marketing of Perkins-branded products along with the company’s aftermarket parts and services business.

Senior Vice President Steve Ferguson highlighted Hemmings’ strategic mindset, commercial expertise and ability to build high-performing teams, noting his strong relationships with original equipment manufacturers and the global distributor network.

Hemmings brings nearly two decades of experience at Perkins, having joined the company as a graduate trainee in Peterborough, UK. His career has spanned account management, market development, strategy and sales, most recently serving as General Manager – Aftermarket.

Commenting on his appointment, Hemmings said he looks forward to advancing Perkins’ growth strategy amid evolving customer needs and technologies. He also pointed to continued investments in industrial engines, advanced power solutions, connectivity and condition monitoring as key drivers for the brand in the coming year.

The appointment marks a leadership transition following Jaz Gill’s decision to retire after more than 30 years with Perkins. Gill held several senior roles across aftermarket, product marketing and regional sales before serving as Vice President & General Manager of SMSP since 2017, playing a significant role in strengthening collaboration with distributors and OEM partners.
