Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inspected construction at RK Ashram Marg station, part of Phase Four of the Delhi Metro network, and reviewed progress with officials of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). She directed strict adherence to timelines, high construction quality and uncompromising safety standards. The visit formed part of a broader review of Phase Four works across the city.

The RK Ashram Marg station is being developed as an interchange connecting the operational Blue Line with the Magenta Line and it anchors the Line eight corridor that extends 28.92 km from Janakpuri West. Authorities said stretches between Janakpuri West and Krishna Park Extension and from Deepali Chowk to Majlis Park have opened for commuters and remaining sections are advancing rapidly. The corridor will pass through West, North and Central Delhi and is expected to reduce travel time, ease congestion and lower pollution.

A major portion of the work falls under a technically complex contract package that includes the construction of nearly seven km of twin tunnels and six underground stations: Derawal Nagar, Ghanta Ghar, Pulbangash, Sadar Bazar, Nabi Karim and RK Ashram Marg. Officials noted that difficult tasks such as building an underground station in congested Sadar Bazar and executing tunnel boring beneath active railway lines near Sabzi Mandi, the Rani Jhansi flyover and the Red Line have been completed. Despite hard rock strata and waterlogged soil, work has continued using advanced technologies and strict safety protocols without disrupting surface traffic.

Highlighting strategic importance, the Chief Minister said RK Ashram Marg will support future network expansion and strengthen connectivity to Central Vista. The Magenta Line will be extended from RK Ashram Marg to Inderlok via Indraprastha, comprising a 9.91 km stretch to Indraprastha and an 11.9 km stretch to Inderlok; when completed the Magenta Line will run from Botanical Garden to Inderlok, covering around 88.4 km with 65 stations in a fully driverless configuration. She emphasised that millions depend on the Delhi Metro daily, making quality, safety and timely completion non-negotiable.
