SAEL Limited has commissioned two 300 megawatt (MW) solar projects in YSR Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, raising its operational capacity in the state to 600 MW. The company said the integrated installations were completed with an investment of about Rs 30 billion (bn). The projects were developed under SAEL Solar MHP1 Private Limited and SAEL Solar MHP2 Private Limited and reached commercial operation earlier this year.

The facilities span 2,400 acres and use more than 1.2 million (mn) TOPCon bifacial solar modules, most of which were assembled at SAEL manufacturing units in Punjab and Rajasthan. Construction was completed in a record 11 months, with the first site commissioned on 30 January 2026 and the second on 13 March 2026. Both units achieved commercial operation ahead of the formal inauguration.

Power from the plants will be supplied to the national grid under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India. The company expects the installations to offset nearly 1.1 million (mn) t of carbon dioxide annually, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh's position as a renewable energy hub. Officials indicated the output will strengthen grid supplies for the region.

More than 1,000 workers were employed during construction, with nearly 80 per cent sourced from local communities, and the projects have created long-term income opportunities for farmers through structured land lease agreements of about 25 years. Work was carried out under SAEL's integrated EPC and O&M framework with state support for land facilitation and grid connectivity. The company highlighted evaluation of further renewable and agri waste-to-energy investments in the state.

The inauguration on 22 May 2026 follows Andhra Pradesh's Integrated Clean Energy Policy 2024, which targets investments worth Rs 10 trillion (tn) across renewable energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, transmission and manufacturing by 2029. SAEL Industries reported a portfolio of 8,299 MWp of contracted and awarded solar and battery storage projects, along with 3,625 MW of module assembly capacity and 164.9 MW of agri waste-to-energy operations. The projects are expected to contribute to regional economic activity and renewable capacity growth.
