Shri T. N. Natarajan has assumed charge as Director (Commercial) at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) with effect from 19 March 2026. He brings over 32 years of leadership experience spanning production, logistics and sales after joining SAIL as a management trainee in 1993. The appointment marks a continuation of long service within the company and reflects a career built on operational and commercial responsibilities. The appointment was announced in an official press release by the Ministry of Steel.

Mr Natarajan has held key roles across manufacturing operations, supply chain management and strategic marketing, contributing to operational improvements and commercial positioning. He has a proven record of delivering sustained growth and market expansion through scaling regional sales and strengthening key account relationships. His work has driven significant gains in high-value segments such as infrastructure, fabrication and oil and gas.

He has been instrumental in shifting SAIL's marketing approach from commodity based selling to solution oriented engagement and in establishing innovative customer centric service models to support complex projects. He is credited with building high performing teams and strengthening distribution networks while enhancing brand visibility through targeted strategic initiatives. These measures have been aimed at improving responsiveness to customer needs and at creating differentiated service propositions. His initiatives have emphasised customer service and lifecycle support for project partners.

Under his leadership SAIL has seen improvements in market share, profitability and customer loyalty, and his strategic orientation and execution focus are expected to support further commercial growth.
