TCS Gets 21 Acres in Vizag for 99 Paise, to Invest Rs 1.37B

Andhra Pradesh has cleared the allotment of 21.16 acres of land in Visakhapatnam to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) at a token price of just 99 paise, signalling a renewed push to attract major tech investments.

The decision, approved during a recent cabinet meeting, will pave the way for a Rs 1.37 billion TCS development centre in the city, which is expected to generate 12,000 jobs. The move is the result of months of engagement between the state government and Tata Sons, led by IT Minister Nara Lokesh.

Officials said the symbolic land price is aimed at sending a strong message to the industry that Andhra Pradesh is serious about positioning itself as a competitive destination for IT and electronics investments—similar to Gujarat’s strategy when it offered land to Tata Motors in Sanand.

The state is now betting on Visakhapatnam to emerge as a new tech hub, with TCS as the anchor player in its ambitious IT growth roadmap.
