Tesla Opens First India Showroom in Mumbai’s BKC

Tesla, the American electric vehicle giant led by Elon Musk, is set to officially enter the Indian market with the launch of its first experience centre on 15 July 2025 in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
The new 4,000-square-foot showroom, located at Unit G 1B, 2 North Avenue, Maker Maxity, will serve as a premium destination for customers to explore Tesla’s offerings in an upscale setting.
According to sources, Tesla has leased the space for approximately Rs 40 million per annum. The facility will initially display five Model Y electric SUVs, imported from its Shanghai factory, with unit prices expected around Rs 5 million. Additional models may be introduced based on market response.
Tesla currently has no plans to manufacture in India, as discussions are ongoing for a potential Indo-US trade deal that may lower customs duties on American imports.
After Mumbai, Tesla is likely to launch its second experience centre in New Delhi, followed by openings in other major Indian cities.
Analysts note that India’s growing appetite for premium electric vehicles makes it a promising market for Tesla. High-profile Indian business leaders like Mukesh Ambani and Prashant Ruia are already Tesla owners, signalling the brand’s aspirational value among elite consumers.
