Union Minister Inaugurates Testing Facilities At NTH Mumbai

National Test House Western Region campus in Mumbai received Union Minister Pralhad Joshi for inauguration of new testing facilities and for a Bhoomi Pujan and foundation stone laying for expansion of infrastructure. The event reflected the Government's commitment to developing world-class quality infrastructure to support industry, trade and consumer welfare. Officials framed the measures as part of a broader drive to bring testing services closer to industry and to enhance the national quality ecosystem.

The Minister underlined that robust testing and certification infrastructure is vital to protect consumer interests, improve product reliability and facilitate ease of doing business. He argued that a strengthened quality ecosystem is essential to improve global competitiveness of Indian products and to advance the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. The Department of Consumer Affairs and National Test House were commended for expanding advanced testing capabilities across regions.

The Minister inaugurated a microbiological testing laboratory at NTH Mumbai, a shoe testing facility at National Test House Northern Region in Ghaziabad and an NTH-AURIC satellite centre at NICDC AURIC City in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra. He toured the Mumbai laboratories and engaged with scientists, technical experts and officials to review testing capabilities and ongoing modernisation initiatives. The presentations outlined priorities for extending services to emerging sectors.

Senior leadership of the Department of Consumer Affairs attended the event, and Secretary Nidhi Khare and Additional Secretary Richa Misra underscored the pivotal role of National Test House in ensuring product quality and safeguarding consumer interests. The Director General of National Test House presented an overview of expanding capabilities and the strategic roadmap for future development. The newly inaugurated facilities are expected to significantly augment testing capacity in critical sectors and to promote compliance with national and international standards.
