VMRDA To Focus On Revenue Generating Initiatives

Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) prepared an action plan under the leadership of Chairperson MV Pranav Gopal and Metropolitan Commissioner N Tej Bharath to strengthen the organisation's financial position. During a review meeting on ongoing development works the Chairperson and Commissioner directed officials to emphasise the authority's finances by initiating the auction of completed layouts and plots. The initiative is intended to augment revenue streams and support the timely completion of infrastructure projects.\n\nThe Chairperson reiterated that all projects must be completed strictly within stipulated timelines and emphasised a result driven approach that requires engineers to take proactive roles. He warned that negligence or delays would not be tolerated and stated that the targets set by the government must be achieved collectively without compromise. Officials were instructed to prioritise delivery while maintaining administrative accountability.\n\nThe Metropolitan Commissioner outlined immediate corrective measures to remove bottlenecks in key infrastructure works and directed the expedited shifting of electricity poles that obstruct construction of master plan roads to ensure seamless progress. He also emphasised close coordination with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation for timely distribution of Transferable Development Rights to property owners affected by road widening initiatives. Transparency in the allocation process and adherence to regulatory protocols were highlighted as priorities.\n\nThe Commissioner cautioned that strict action would be taken against any lapses that could harm the organisation's reputation and urged coordinated efforts across departments to maintain momentum. Present at the meeting were Chief Engineer Vinay Kumar, Secretary Murali Krishna, Supervising Engineers Bhavani Shankar and Madhusudhan Rao along with executive engineers and other engineering staff. The administration indicated that balanced development and revenue generation will proceed in tandem to sustain urban expansion.
