VMRDA To Focus On Revenue Generating Initiatives

Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority prepared an action plan under the leadership of Chairperson MV Pranav Gopal and Metropolitan Commissioner N Tej Bharath to strengthen the organisation's financial position. During a review meeting on ongoing development works on Monday, the chairperson and commissioner directed officials to emphasise the authority's revenues by initiating the auction of completed layouts and plots. The measures were framed to bolster internal resources and reduce dependence on external funding.

Pranav Gopal reiterated that all projects must be completed within stipulated timelines and instructed engineers to adopt a proactive approach to delivery. He warned that negligence and delays would not be tolerated and emphasised collective achievement of government targets without compromise. Officials were asked to work in a coordinated manner across departments to meet deadlines and improve accountability.

Commissioner N Tej Bharath outlined immediate corrective measures to remove bottlenecks in key infrastructure works and directed concerned officials to expedite the shifting of electricity poles that obstructed the construction of master plan roads. He linked the removal of such obstacles to seamless progress of urban expansion projects and urged timely completion of priority stretches. The commissioner also stressed close coordination with the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation for transparent and timely distribution of Transferable Development Rights to property owners affected by road widening.

The commissioner cautioned that strict action would be taken against any lapses that could impact the organisation's reputation and asked officials to maintain high standards of conduct and supervision. Chief engineer Vinay Kumar, secretary Murali Krishna, supervising engineers Bhavani Shankar and Madhusudhan Rao, along with executive engineers and other engineering staff, attended the meeting. The authority expects that the focus on auction revenues and project discipline will strengthen its fiscal health and accelerate urban development activities.
