Waaree to Consolidate Plants and Expand US Capacity
The two facilities together accounted for approximately 14 per cent of Waaree Energies' standalone turnover in the last financial year, the company said. Management indicated the consolidation is expected to streamline production, reduce logistics and operating costs and optimise utilisation at Chikhli. Officials foresee operational benefits from centralising module assembly and related processes. The announcement follows a broader strategy to rationalise domestic assets.
Internationally, the board approved capital expenditure of about US$37 mn by Waaree Solar Americas Inc. (WSA), the company's wholly owned US subsidiary, to revamp the Arizona plant. The revamp will replace module production lines with high-efficiency lines and raise capacity from one GW to one point six GW. After completion, aggregate United States capacity will increase to four point eight GW, comprising three point two GW at Texas and one point six GW at Arizona. The expenditure will be financed through debt and internal accruals.
