The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), conducted a Capacity Building Programme for Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) officials in Vijayawada. The initiative aligns with Andhra Pradesh’s Swarna Andhra 2047 and Net Zero 2040 vision, with Amaravati being developed as a model green city.
Held at Fortune Murali Park, the session hosted over 50 APCRDA officials to familiarise them with IGBC Green Building Rating Systems and best practices in sustainable infrastructure. Andhra Pradesh’s green vision, reflected in the IGBC Platinum-rated Amaravati master plan, is being implemented through regulatory integration and strategic partnerships.
K Kanna Babu, IAS, Commissioner, APCRDA, highlighted Amaravati’s role as a green capital and announced the plan to certify the upcoming APCRDA Head Office as a Green and Net Zero building. He underlined IGBC’s vital role in helping the state meet its environmental targets.
Vijay Sai Meka, Chairman, IGBC Amaravati Chapter, praised APCRDA for adopting IGBC norms in key projects and setting a national example. IGBC, through its MoU with APCRDA, continues to support sustainable initiatives via training, policy guidance, and stakeholder engagement.
The upcoming Green Andhra Summit on August 7, 2025, is expected to further boost momentum towards wide-scale adoption of green and Net Zero practices across Andhra Pradesh.
