Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel manufacturer, through its wholly owned subsidiary Jindal Stainless Steelway (JSSL), has inaugurated its first stainless steel fabrication unit at Washivali, Patalganga, Mumbai. The 4 lakh sq ft facility aims to set new benchmarks in integrated infrastructure excellence, catering primarily to the bridge sector and fabricating critical components such as girders, arches, nuts, bolts, and other structural elements.
The unit, developed with an initial investment of around Rs 1.25 billion, marks a strategic leap for the company, enhancing its role as both a stainless steel supplier and a provider of end-to-end fabrication solutions for India’s growing infrastructure sector. By FY26-27, the facility is expected to achieve an annual fabrication capacity of 18,000 tonnes, up from 4,000 tonnes in the current year. The project will directly create over 250 jobs and indirectly benefit more than 150 families, while also serving as a centre for skill development.
Commenting on the launch, Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, Jindal Stainless, said, “This fabrication unit represents another step in our efforts to provide integrated solutions for customers. Bridges are critical connectors, linking people, businesses, and economic activity across the nation. With this unit, our aim is to implement stronger end-to-end quality management, ensuring these vital structures are built to the highest standards and supporting India’s broader infrastructure growth.”
Speaking at the inauguration, Tarun Khulbe, CEO & CFO, Jindal Stainless, added, “Developing a trained fabricator ecosystem has long been a challenge in fully translating the excellence of sustainable stainless steel into reliable, high-quality fabrications. With the launch of this facility, we are bridging that gap by combining material excellence, skilled fabrication, and streamlined processes to deliver superior infrastructure solutions.”
Jindal Stainless has supplied stainless steel to many of India’s landmark infrastructure projects. Unlike carbon steel, stainless steel offers a lifespan of over 100 years with minimal maintenance, providing safer, corrosion-free, and sustainable solutions. The launch of this fabrication unit reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, end-to-end infrastructure solutions.
Future expansions of the fabrication facility are planned across India, with upcoming phases incorporating solar power to enhance sustainability, aligning with Jindal Stainless’ ESG goals.
