Bengaluru has opened one of India’s largest logistics parks, the AISATS BLR Logistics Park, at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday. The project, which required investment of Rs 2 billion, was undertaken by Air India SATS Airport Services Private Limited (AISATS).

The park comprises three distinct buildings and spans across eight acres in the airport. The main warehouse is of two levels and consists of over 240,000 sqft of warehousing space, which will help serve freight forwarders, express courier operators and logistics companies. It will also have a more common area for SMEs, as well as cold storage facilities.

Alongside the main warehouse, there is a 11,000-sqft public bonded warehouse that will allow importers and OEMs to securely store and manage their cargo shipments under Customs bond. And lastly, the park contains an office block with 24,000 sqft of space for customs agents, logistics workers, and support services. All areas of the park will be connected via trucking services, which have been optimized to carry cargo seamlessly.

This park will be particularly beneficial to KIA because, globally, KIA commands a 13% market share in total volume cargo across India, and a 40% share in cargo processing among airports in South India. It also boasted annual cargo tonnage of 5,02,480 MT in FY25, while aiming to handle 1 million MT of cargo by 2030. The park can ergo improve cargo handling capacity, operational efficiency, and the airport’s supply chain.

The facility is the first of AISATS’ national expansion strategy in India, with a Multimodal Cargo Hub (MMCH) being set to be opened at Noida International Airport next.
