Centre team to assess airport plan in Kishtwar under UDAN

A high-level team comprising officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) will visit Kishtwar today and tomorrow to assess the feasibility of developing an airport under the UDAN scheme.

The visit is part of the Central Government’s push to enhance regional connectivity and make air travel affordable for residents of remote areas. The team will conduct a two-day assessment and submit a detailed feasibility report with findings and recommendations to higher authorities. Based on the report, a development roadmap for the proposed airport will be prepared.

Sharing the update on X, Union Minister and Kishtwar MP Dr Jitendra Singh welcomed the move, stating that the Government’s initiatives for developing remote regions like Kishtwar have received strong support from the Prime Minister’s Office.

He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on far-flung areas has been pivotal in accelerating infrastructure growth and improving connectivity across the region.
