The city has rolled out a fleet of electric buses ahead of the opening of Jewar Airport next week, offering a modern, safe and affordable option for airport-bound travellers. Authorities presented the service as part of broader efforts to strengthen regional connectivity and prepare for increased passenger flows at the new airport. The initiative is described as combining comfort with enhanced safety features aimed at everyday commuters as well as families.

Each vehicle is fitted with closed circuit television cameras for surveillance and driver screens, and emergency exits have been provided on both sides to improve evacuation options. Vehicles also carry glass breaking hammers, fire safety equipment and strategically positioned fire extinguishing systems to allow immediate response to incidents. Officials emphasised that the measures are intended to increase passenger security, particularly for women and families.

Interiors are designed to mirror long distance coaches with cushioned seating and dedicated luggage bays to assist airport travellers carrying baggage. Mobile charging points are available throughout the cabin to meet commuter demand for device power on the move. Each bus has seating for 41 passengers, offering a balance between capacity and comfort.

Affordability is a central aim and authorities indicated fares will remain within reach of ordinary commuters, with ticket prices ranging from roughly Rs 20 to Rs 50 depending on route, while earlier reports suggested fares could begin as low as Rs 10 on some stretches. Residents of Greater Noida West are expected to gain from the service after years of reliance on private vehicles and autos due to limited public transport. Beyond mobility, the electric fleet is set to support cleaner urban transport with zero tailpipe emissions and lower operating costs compared with conventional buses. Officials framed the rollout as a timely step in the state's push for sustainable public transportation ahead of the airport opening.
