Warangal Airport To Enter Construction Phase Soon

Officials indicated that improved air connectivity could facilitate investment, tourism and cargo movements and that airport infrastructure is being planned with regional integration in mind. Planning aims to ensure the facility can accommodate future demand while connecting effectively with road and rail networks.
Parallel efforts are underway on an Adilabad airport, which officials said will be developed through a collaborative model involving the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the state government. A detailed master plan for Adilabad is in the pipeline and preliminary steps for land acquisition have commenced, reflecting coordinated federal and state engagement. The minister reviewed progress during a meeting with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other stakeholders, with attention on timelines and interagency coordination for the three proposed airports.
Plans for a Kothagudem airport are being reassessed after the Civil Aviation Ministry determined that the originally identified site was unsuitable, prompting the state to commission a fresh feasibility study to identify an alternative location. Authorities said that the new study will examine technical, environmental and land suitability criteria and will seek inputs from local administrations and potential investors. Officials indicated that outcomes of the feasibility exercise will guide subsequent land planning and the scheduling of project milestones.
