Telangana Allocates Rs 900 Mn for Warangal Airport Upgrade

The Telangana government has sanctioned an additional Rs 900 million for the ongoing development of Warangal Airport. The funds will be used to expedite land acquisition, runway strengthening, and terminal construction to support commercial flight operations under the regional connectivity scheme.
Officials stated that with this allocation, the total government contribution to the project now exceeds Rs 2 billion. The State is coordinating with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to complete the works and enable early commissioning.
Located about 12 km from Warangal city, the airport is expected to play a vital role in enhancing air connectivity in north Telangana and supporting industrial and tourism growth in the region. The upgraded facility, named Kakatiya Airport, will also serve as an alternate landing site for defence and emergency operations.
