The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has approved the white-topping of 150 kilometres of roads in Bengaluru, aiming to improve road durability and reduce maintenance costs. This significant infrastructure upgrade is expected to enhance the city's transportation network, benefiting commuters and residents alike.

White-topping involves covering existing asphalt roads with a layer of concrete, which is more durable and requires less maintenance than traditional asphalt. The project targets major arterial and sub-arterial roads that experience heavy traffic, aiming to provide a smoother and longer-lasting surface.

BBMP officials highlighted that white-topping offers several advantages, including increased road lifespan, reduced potholes, and better resistance to wear and tear.
