An enhanced section between Dhaula Kuan and IGI Airport was launched by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who also offered Rs 15 billion for Delhi’s road revamping. Gadkari officially opened the 8 kilometre section that the Public Works Department (PWD) had renovated and beautified while being accompanied by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The minister for highways and road transportation thanked the LG in a statement to media for his single-minded commitment to the development of the national capital.

According to a statement from the LG office, Gadkari further promised to provide Rs 15 billion from the Central Road Fund for the improvement of relevant infrastructure in Delhi. According to the statement, the amount will be put to use for initiatives planned by the Delhi administration and overseen by the LG. Gadkari was praised by Saxena for his support of the Dhaula Kuan-IGI Airport road beautification project and given the assurance that more projects that are more appropriate will be planned as a result of the significant financial support being given.

The Delhi airport's Dhaula Kuan to T3 tunnel is around 8 kilometres long. One of the busiest thoroughfares, it connects Jaipur with Gurugram, Dwarka, Najafgarh, and the IGI Airport. Numerous foreign dignitaries will visit Delhi at the upcoming G-20 Summit, so in light of this road's enormous importance, beautifying efforts have been made. According to the statement, the beautifying project, which was funded by the NHAI and cost an estimated Rs 220 million, was finished in nine months under the LG's close supervision.
