MLA Chenani-Ghordi Balwant Singh Mankotia has launched construction work on a PMGSY-IV road in Chenani and laid its foundation stone. The project will connect Jaganoo to Ser Chompal Nallah, covering the stretch from Km 3rd to Neeli under Batch-I for 2026-27.

The 2.317-km road has been sanctioned at a cost of Rs. 50.02 mn and is expected to benefit around 508 residents of Jaganoo and nearby areas. The project is intended to improve connectivity in the remote and hilly parts of the constituency, while making it easier for residents to travel and for essential goods to reach local communities.

The commencement of work is part of efforts to strengthen rural infrastructure in the Chenani-Ghordi constituency. Improved road access is expected to support smoother movement of people and vehicles, and provide residents with more convenient access to essential services, including healthcare, education and markets.

During the programme, Mankotia referred to the Central Government’s focus on rural development and connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. He also acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Dr Jitendra Singh for their role in advancing infrastructure development in the region.

Mankotia said better roads were important for the socio-economic development of rural areas and could improve transport and public access. He reiterated his commitment to the timely execution of development projects and to strengthening infrastructure across the constituency. The road is expected to address connectivity requirements in Jaganoo and neighbouring areas as construction progresses.
