Mysuru Opens Sayyajirao Road Subway for Pedestrian Safety
The subway allows pedestrians to avoid crossing Sayyajirao Road directly amid traffic. Its opening provides an alternative to crossing at road level and is aimed at supporting public convenience for people travelling through the area.
The civic body has installed closed-circuit television cameras inside the subway as part of measures to strengthen public safety. The surveillance equipment is expected to support monitoring of the facility and complement the designated route provided for pedestrians.
Dustbins have also been placed inside the subway to support cleanliness. Murals have been painted on the walls to improve the appearance of the facility and create a more maintained public environment for users.
Mysuru City Corporation Commissioner M.K. Savita has asked members of the public to use the pedestrian subway while crossing Sayyajirao Road. She has also appealed to users to help preserve its cleanliness and appearance.
The opening places responsibility for the facility’s upkeep on both the civic administration and the public. The corporation will need to maintain surveillance, sanitation and the physical condition of the subway, while pedestrians have been asked to use the designated crossing facility rather than cross the road directly.
