The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has adopted resolutions urging the state government to expedite construction of the two-lane Foothills road and to support upgrading the stretch to National Highway status under the Trans Nagaland Highway initiative. The committee's media cell said the decisions followed a marathon meeting on 25 July and constitute a unified request for clearer timelines and sustained administrative attention to the project.

Members resolved to press the state to pursue the matter actively with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India, noting that the proposal has been pending since 2018. The committee emphasised the need for central engagement and for the state to monitor follow-up actions closely to secure formal sanction and any statutory clearances required for upgradation. The committee asked for periodic updates on progress and for timelines to be made public.

With the working season approaching, the NFHRCC appealed for immediate issuance of work orders for the second phase of construction in the remaining divisions, on the basis of administrative approval under the SASCI loan scheme for 2024-25. The committee urged that the execution process be free from bias or prejudice and warned against piecemeal inaugurations of completed stretches except where bridge openings are essential for continuity. It emphasised contractor welfare and timely payment to maintain momentum.

Reaffirming a position held since 2013, the NFHRCC stated that no warring factions or individuals would be permitted to levy taxes on the construction stretch and asked village council authorities to monitor progress in close coordination with the department. The committee also called for expedited release of additional funds to bridge contractors in the Baghty and Peren divisions who were required to perform work beyond the original Detailed Project Report (DPR), which the committee said appeared to be deficient for greater accountability measures.
