The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will open a 34-km section of Package I of the Ghazipur-Ballia Greenfield Highway for a trial run from 1 October. The opening will allow vehicles to use the newly built road under actual traffic conditions and enable the authority to assess its performance before extending access to a longer stretch.

The section forms part of National Highway 31 and connects the Ghazipur-Ballia corridor towards the Uttar Pradesh-Bihar border. Since the trial will cover only the completed portion, NHAI has arranged entry and exit facilities at several locations to regulate vehicle movement and support safer access to the highway.

The access points are located at Sarai Bandi on the Varanasi-Gorakhpur Highway, Ghazipur-Kasimabad Road, Yusufpur-Kasimabad Road and Parsa-Barachawar Block Road. Another entry and exit arrangement has been planned near the Purvanchal Expressway flyover for vehicles travelling towards Lucknow, with an additional connection through Latoodeeh-Pradhanpur Road.

These facilities are intended to manage traffic during the initial trial period, particularly because there will be no exit facility beyond chainage 34. The arrangement will also help NHAI observe traffic patterns and identify operational requirements while the newly completed section is used in normal conditions.

The highway authority has issued a safety advisory for residents living near the road. People have been asked not to use the highway for walking, jogging, cycling or playing, especially during evening hours, when visibility and traffic conditions may pose additional risks. The advisory is aimed at preventing accidents as motorists and local residents adjust to the trial opening.
