Pune Sets October 30 Deadline for HCMTR and Inner Ring Road Surveys

The Pune district administration has set October 30, 2026, as the deadline for completing joint land surveys for the High Capacity Mass Transit Route (HCMTR) and the inner ring road. The exercise is intended to accelerate land acquisition and support the development of additional transport corridors across the city.

District Collector Jitendra Dudi directed the departments concerned to complete land measurements and demarcation along both proposed routes within the stipulated timeframe. The HCMTR is planned as a 24-metre-wide corridor, while the proposed inner ring road will have a width of 65 metres.

The two projects are aimed at improving traffic movement in Pune and reducing pressure on existing roads. The Pune Municipal Corporation has also been asked to submit supplementary documents and technical reports required to obtain approval for transferring land under the state government’s control.

The additional documents are part of the formalities needed to advance the projects and address delays associated with land acquisition. During a presentation on the proposals, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Manoj Patil outlined the expected role of both corridors in easing congestion on several city roads.

Officials said progress would require coordination between the civic administration, district authorities and other departments involved in the land transfer process. The meeting also reviewed preparations for the Pune Grand Tour 2027, with discussions on land held by the defence and railway departments reported to have produced a positive response. The administration is now working to complete the survey-related groundwork while coordinating infrastructure arrangements for the international cycling event.
