Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin has directed the release of Rs 22 billion as a special fund for road development in all urban local bodies in the state, bringing the total allocation for improving 20,990 km of roads in various Corporations, Municipalities, and town panchayats to Rs 95.88 billion.

The move would address the government's criticism of the roads becoming bumpy and potholed after the rains, as well as the work done to repair storm water drains and underground drainage systems.
