Thane Coastal Road Reaches 45 Per Cent Completion

The Thane Coastal Road-1 project has reached 45 per cent overall completion, with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) reporting a record installation of 10 I-girders in a single day. The girders were erected on October 14, 2026, as part of ongoing construction on the corridor.

MMRDA said the daily achievement exceeded the project’s usual output of four to six girders. The authority described the work as a construction milestone, with the higher installation rate marking progress on the road’s elevated and structural components.

The project involves a 13.45-km, six-lane, access-controlled corridor. It will connect NH-3 and NH-48 at Kharegaon Toll Naka with Gaimukh, creating a new road link across the Thane area.

Once completed, the corridor is expected to provide an alternative route to Ghodbunder Road. The planned connection is intended to add capacity to the local road network and offer another route for traffic travelling between the linked points.

The latest update covers both the project’s cumulative progress and a specific day’s construction output. MMRDA’s statement placed overall completion at 45 per cent while highlighting the installation of 10 girders against the normal daily range of four to six. Further construction will continue on the corridor as work advances towards completion.
