Jammu and Katra railway services remain severely affected as Northern Railway announced the cancellation of 68 trains—both incoming and outgoing—until 30 September, due to extensive track damage caused by heavy rains and flash floods. Meanwhile, 24 trains are scheduled to resume operations gradually.

The Jammu railway division has experienced a complete halt in services for the past eight days, following track misalignment and breaches at several points along the Pathankot–Jammu section. Torrential rainfall since 26 August led to widespread flooding and damage, stranding hundreds of passengers, including many pilgrims.

According to officials, the Jammu region received 380 mm of rainfall, marking its heaviest since 1910. To assist stranded passengers, the Railways has launched shuttle services between Jammu Tawi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and has resumed operations of long-distance services like the Jammu Tawi–Kolkata and Katra–New Delhi trains.

From 1 to 15 September, four trains have been introduced in the Jammu–Katra section to run as shuttles, aiding local movement. Additionally, services of key trains such as the Sampark Kranti, Sealdah Express, Kantri Express, Trivandrum Express, and Vande Bharat have been either restored or scheduled for resumption.
