Alstom is supplying rolling stock, signalling and maintenance solutions for the Indore Metro Yellow Line expansion, which spans 31.5 km in total with a 16-station mainline covering 16.72 km currently in operation. The line deploys 10 Alstom-equipped trainsets and operates at grade of automation one (GoA1) with Automatic Train Protection (ATP) on the mainline, supported by the Gandhinagar Depot and Test Track. With 23 out of 25 trainsets already delivered, Alstom has met delivery commitments and reinforced its partnership in transforming mass transit in Madhya Pradesh.

Indore’s metro trainsets are designed and manufactured at Alstom’s rolling stock facility in Savli, Gujarat. The trains are engineered for safety, sustainability and passenger comfort and operate at a top speed of 80 km/h. Each three-car configuration accommodates 144 seated and 981 standing passengers and includes dedicated areas for passengers with reduced mobility. Energy-efficient traction systems with regenerative braking reduce energy consumption while ambient and smart lighting further optimise usage.

The Train Control and Management System (TCMS) is integrated with an automatic track inspection system to guarantee reliable and high-speed data transmission. Security systems include continuous CCTV surveillance and intelligent functions such as unattended object identification and empty train detection, with direct communication channels between the train operator and the control centre. To manage demand and maximise throughput, Alstom has equipped the Indore Metro with Urbalis Forward, its next-generation communication-based train control (CBTC) signalling system that is installed on 190 metro lines in 32 countries and enables safe, fluid and high-frequency operations.

As market leader in rail maintenance service and life cycle management, Alstom maintains over 36,000 vehicles worldwide and will provide support under a 15-year maintenance agreement through its FlexCare Perform solutions to ensure high availability and stable operations. In India Alstom operates six industrial sites and five major engineering centres aligned with Make-in-India and Atmanirbhar Bharat objectives to strengthen local sourcing and supply chains.
