Bettahalasur station reopens on Metro Line
A formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BMRCL and Embassy Group will be signed soon. As a token contribution for the station, they have already deposited Rs 10 million." The station will be located between Bagalur Cross and Doddajala stations and is estimated to cost around Rs 14 billion.
DC Nataraj, Chief Engineer, BMRCL, explained, "The station, situated 1 km from the IAF campus, will be constructed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model as originally planned, with Embassy providing the funding while BMRCL carries out the construction work."
In April 2020, Embassy Group initially stepped forward to sign an agreement to finance the station, as it would provide convenient access for residents of the sprawling Embassy Boulevard complex in the area. However, due to internal financial issues, they later expressed their inability to provide funding. In December 2022, BMRCL announced that they would exclude the station.
The State Government's High Powered Committee approved the inclusion of Chikkajala station, which was a later addition to the line based on public demand. It will be located between Bettahalsuru and Doddajala stations. BMRCL sources also revealed that the Jakkur Plantation Metro station, proposed to be jointly built by Bagmane and Century Group at a cost of Rs 12 billion, will also be established on the Airport Line.
Previously, the fate of this station was uncertain as well. The Airport Line spans 36.44 km and is divided into three packages: K R Puram to Hebbal (Package 1), Hebbal to IAF Campus (Package 2), and IAF to KIA (Package 3). Jakkur Plantation will be situated between the GFTS Campus and Kogilu Cross. The deadline for completing the line is June 2026.
