The Central Railway has installed an advanced mist cooling system on three platforms at Nagpur station to help passengers manage the intense summer heat. The mist cooling system has been set up on platforms 1, 2, and 3.

This innovative solution is intended to enhance passenger comfort during the peak summer months from April to June, when temperatures in Nagpur can exceed 45 degrees Celsius, as mentioned in an official release.

The release explained that the system effectively reduces the ambient temperature by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, providing much-needed relief to passengers. The cooling effect is achieved through the evaporation of water dispersed by strategically placed nozzles around the platforms.

Heatwave conditions have been reported in parts of Maharashtra and Vidarbha, with the Regional Meteorological Centre in Nagpur issuing a yellow alert for the next two days, until May 30. Weather officials noted that heatwave conditions have prevailed at several locations in Vidarbha over the last 24 hours. Nagpur also experienced extreme heat, reaching 45.6 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature in May in the last 10 years.
