CM unveils Bhopal Metro coach model; sparks selfie frenzy

Chouhan reminisced about the vision that was conceived in 2016 to introduce metro rail systems in Bhopal and Indore, expressing delight that this dream is now on the cusp of becoming a reality. He urged citizens to visit the model coach, provide their valuable suggestions, and embrace the forthcoming development.

Expected to be operational approximately six months after trial runs commence in September, the metro coach boasts cutting-edge safety features, including CCTVs, modern lighting, and an emergency communication unit. Chouhan, confident in its impeccable safety rating, envisioned passenger operations beginning in the coming year.

The Bhopal Metro's impact transcends the city limits, connecting areas such as Mandideep and Sehore through an extended route. The trial runs, slated for both Indore and Bhopal, will begin in September, with full-fledged operations expected by April-May. The metro system's introduction promises not only enhanced convenience but also reduced travel time for commuters.

The MP Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) is spearheading the metro projects in the state, despite facing challenges posed by the pandemic. The trials in Bhopal (5 km) and Indore (6 km) are underway, as the city gears up for the Orange and Blue lines' development, totaling 31 km, at an estimated cost of Rs 70 billion. The metro's expanded reach aims to revolutionise public transportation and boost connectivity throughout the region.
