Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed that the BDD Chawl redevelopment project be accorded essential project status, while also setting new completion deadlines for several key infrastructure projects across Mumbai, Thane, and Pune.

At a review meeting held on Monday, the Chief Minister instructed that Mumbai Metro Line 2B, running from D.N. Nagar to Diamond Garden–Mandalay, be completed by 31 March 2027. He further directed that the Metro line from Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli be completed by 31 December 2026, and asked the Urban Development Department to resolve land-related issues at Shyam Nagar station within 15 days.

The Metro Line 3 (Mann–Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar) project, implemented by the Pune Metropolitan Area Development Authority, has been ordered to be completed by 31 March 2026. Meanwhile, the BDD Chawl redevelopment projects are expected to be completed as follows: Naigaon by June 2029, Worli by May 2029, and N.M. Joshi Marg by June 2031.

Fadnavis emphasised that the BDD Chawl redevelopment should be treated as an essential project, ensuring timely delivery and uninterrupted execution.

He also reviewed progress on other major infrastructure works, including the Thane–Borivali double tunnel, Uttan–Virar Sea Link, and Orange Gate–Marine Drive urban tunnel, and urged departments to expedite completion through coordinated planning.

Highlighting the Airoli–Katai Naka Freeway, the Chief Minister said the project would cut travel time to 20 minutes and directed the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to immediately release pending land acquisition payments.

Progress was also noted on the 23.8 km Vadpe–Thane Road being developed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Authority (MSRDC), with 19 km already completed and full completion expected by March 2026.

Fadnavis further stated that the Mumbai–Pune Missing Link project would be completed soon, while expressing dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work on the Bandra–Versova Sea Link.
