Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has floated three tenders for design consultancy services for the Ahmedabad Metro Phase three Metro cum Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) hybrid corridor. The procurements cover work on an additional network of 48.38 kilometre (km) to be integrated into the existing metro system. GMRC framed the tenders to secure specialised consultancy for alignment design, systems integration and coordination with RRTS planning. The consultancy scope will support detailed design and interface management for the hybrid corridors.

The proposed hybrid routes include Vakil Bridge metro station to Badrabad metro station under Phase three B two, APMC metro station to Rakhial metro station under Phase three C one and Malek Saban Lake metro station to Nehru Nagar metro station under Phase three C two. Each corridor is intended to link key urban nodes and facilitate interchange between metro and RRTS services. The tender notices set out technical and commercial requirements for consultants, while preserving compliance with statutory clearances and engineering standards. Bidders are required to prepare proposals covering alignment studies, station design input and interface arrangements.

The design consultancy assignments will encompass alignment validation, structural and track engineering inputs, systems interface and station planning to ensure seamless operation across modes. Consultants will be required to coordinate with RRTS agencies and local authorities on permitting, utility diversion and construction staging. The work forms part of broader Phase three efforts to expand network reach and improve urban connectivity in Ahmedabad. The tender float follows recent activity on Ahmedabad Metro projects, including civil tenders and geotechnical investigations for Phase three packages. The hybrid corridor approach reflects an emphasis on integrated transit planning to link mass rapid transit and regional services. GMRC will evaluate bids in line with procurement rules and award contracts to firms demonstrating technical capability and experience in comparable urban rail projects. Successful consultants will advance detailed design work to support subsequent construction procurement.
