GMRL Seeks HSVP Nod On Land For Two Gurugram Metro Stations

The Gurugram Metro Rail (GMRL) has asked the Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to clarify ownership of two land parcels so it can take timely possession for entry and exit structures. The request was made in a July two letter covering sites in Palam Vihar extension and Sector 21. GMRL said the clarification aims to prevent delays to the Priority two Corridor of the Gurugram Metro Project.

GMRL said it requires 1,514 sqm in total, with 541 sqm for Palam Vihar Extension and 973 sqm for Sector 21. The Palam Vihar parcel is with a private builder and the Sector 21 plot is owned by a public sector unit. The firm asked HSVP to advise on whether the parcels can be transferred to GMRL or must be purchased under the authority's direct purchase policy.

The chief project manager-II requested HSVP to examine titles and provide a formal position on transferability so that implementation can proceed without legal uncertainty. GMRL said the response is essential to start possession and to meet implementation schedules. Officials added that the outcome will determine whether transfer arrangements or negotiated purchases are pursued.

A senior HSVP official said the Gurugram metro project is a priority infrastructure project and the request is under consideration. Gurugram metro authorities plan 14 stations under phase two and a spur linking Sector five to the railway station. For the second phase GMRL previously sought about 14,000 sqm for ten stations.

The HSVP clarification will be pivotal to the timetable for entry and exit works at the two stations and to broader phase two delivery. GMRL is awaiting guidance so it can finalise possession and progress construction.
