Gurugram Metro To Have Five Interchange Stations

The under-construction Gurugram Metro corridor will have five interchange stations to improve connectivity with the Delhi Metro, the proposed Bhondsi railway station metro corridor and the Namo Bharat network, Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) said in a project review by managing director Dr Chandrashekhar Khare.

The interchange points will be at Millennium City Centre, Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Sector five and DLF Cyber City. Millennium City Centre will link with the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro while Subhash Chowk and Sector five will integrate with the proposed Bhondsi line.

Hero Honda Chowk and DLF Cyber City will provide interchange with the Namo Bharat network, the review noted. Khare inspected the Old Gurugram Metro project and examined casting yard operations, directing adherence to safety protocols and urging the contractor to expedite work. Discussions were held on proposed double-decker stretches at Krishna Chowk near Palam Vihar and near Sector 21.

Khare asked GMRL to coordinate with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL) to prioritise work on the reversal track from Millennium City Centre towards Vyapar Kendra Road. He instructed officials to resolve construction bottlenecks between Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk in coordination with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), HVPNL, the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and GMDA. Utility shifting was ordered before Phase two construction from Sector nine to Cyber Hub begins.

Officials were directed to prioritise shifting of water, sewer, gas and electricity lines as well as stormwater drains to avoid delays during the next phase. The review emphasised designing the interchange at Millennium City Centre to cater to commuters travelling to and from Delhi and ensure a smooth travel experience. Project managers were asked to resolve bottlenecks and maintain coordination among agencies to support faster construction.
