India’s First Car Ferry Train to Operate Between Maharashtra and Goa

India’s first car ferry train will run between Kolad (Maharashtra) and Verna (Goa), launched by Konkan Railway for Ganesh Chaturthi travellers. The 12-hour overnight service allows passengers to ride in AC coaches while their vehicles travel in custom wagons. Each train carries up to 40 cars, with a minimum booking of 16; freight is Rs 7,875 per car. Passengers can book 3AC (Rs 935) or second-class (Rs 190) seats. This initiative aims to ease festive road congestion and may be extended to other routes if successful.
