IRCON Celebrates 50 Years of Infrastructure Excellence

IRCON International, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, celebrated its 50th Foundation Day at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The Golden Jubilee event marked five decades of contribution to India’s railway and infrastructure development, while reaffirming the company’s commitment to nation-building through engineering excellence. The celebration was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Railways, IRCON’s leadership, industry stakeholders and employees. The event featured the launch of a commemorative coffee table book on IRCON’s 50-year journey, the unveiling of its internal magazine Navnirmaan, and a special film highlighting landmark projects and engineering milestones. Employees and project teams were also recognised for long-standing service and outstanding contributions. The evening included a musical performance by Kumar Sanu, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Ajit Kumar Mishra, Director (Works). Established in 1976, IRCON has grown from a railway construction company into a diversified infrastructure organisation with expertise across railways, highways, metro systems, tunnels, railway electrification, electronic interlocking, tunnel communication and complex EPC projects. Over the past 50 years, IRCON has completed around 405 projects in India and more than 130 projects across 25 countries. Its key projects include the Pir Panjal Rail Tunnel in Jammu & Kashmir, while its international presence spans Malaysia, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The company remains focused on expanding into new infrastructure sectors under Viksit Bharat 2047 and strengthening its global footprint.
