The third phase of the Bengaluru Metro, which consists of two lines with a combined length of 32.16 km from Kempapura to JP Nagar Fourth Phase and 12.82 km from Hosahalli to Kadabagere, has received preliminary approval from the Karnataka government.

The estimated cost of the phase is Rs 163.68 billion. The Hosahalli-Kadabagere line will have nine stations, whereas the Kempapura-JP Nagar line will have 22 stations, including six interchange stations.

Tejasvi Surya, Member of Parliament for Bangalore South, tweeted that the state government had approved the project in principle. He promised to "work towards ensuring that maximum parts of Bengaluru South gets Metro soon," writing that the new phase will cover JP Nagar, Hosakerehalli, and Nagarbhavai along the Outer Ring Road.

The project has received approval in principle from the departments of urban development and finance to receive funding, in addition to loans raised by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation.
